I remember as a kid, I would always get a hairstyle with French braids and colorful beads added on at the end of my hair. I recently tried the hairstyle as an adult, I forgot how heavy the beads are, if you add so many, but the neck pain was worth the look. lol.
Today wearing beads at the end of a braider hairstyle is quite trendy. In my profession I see woman all the time with it and I think its super cute.
Here is Solange; a music artist, expressing her braided hairstyles with beads.

My Entry.....
This dress is a product and a body supplement. Hair beads is a product that can be bought in the crafts area at a store or your local beauty supply store. They can be attached to the ends of your hair. The cultural components I can connect this dress to is ideology, socialization. Today, hair jewelry has become more readily available in black salons and hair stores. Women across the diaspora wear hair ornaments with contemporary interpretations of African hair designs regularly. They're a go-to for natural hair artists and style influencers, who consider them a simple yet expressive way to add bold color and luster to looks. The cultural mechanism I can connect this dress to is family/kinship organization and socialization. In a more contemporary sense, hair jewelry has become less of a status symbol and more a stylistic one. It comes from the African Heritage.
